Pjotr Sapegin's Madama Butterfly

Pjotr Sapegin's Madama Butterfly animation is a very creative interpretation of the opera.  It creates a roller coaster of emotion from the throes of passion to the depths of despair.  The music climaxes in both pleasure and pain and easily connects the listener to both scenes.  Even though I could not understand the lyrics, I could easily follow the story and experience the emotions.  The expressions of sexuality, passion, loneliness, despair, rejection and heartbreak were easily interpreted in the simple animated characters.  It was a very sad moment when the umbilical cord was broken.  The couple's last connection was severed; leaving her alone with a broken heart.
